Bored with the old look of your kitchen? Or perhaps your kitchen is in a dilapidated state? Remodeling your kitchen is the only solution. Implement the following tips when you are renovating your kitchen will make it more functional and comfortable.

  1. Cabinets and Flooring

Cabinets and flooring are two of the most important elements in the kitchen, so make these a priority when you are remodeling. Go for solid wood cabinets if you have a large kitchen. Glass door cabinets will be perfect for petite kitchens. Hardwood floors should be avoided; instead, go for porcelain or natural stone flooring – these are more resilient and durable for high traffic areas.

  1. Kitchen Lighting

Additional lighting in recesses will eliminate dark spots so focus on installing under cabinet lighting which will keep the countertops illuminated. Installing task lighting will help you increase your productivity around the house.

  1. Installing Islands

Kitchen islands make for extra storage space and are elegant, but be cautious when installing islands as they are bulky. If you have a small kitchen, you could consider investing in a movable kitchen island which is not only inexpensive compared to a fixed island but they can also be removed once you are done with your tasks.

  1. Ventilation

Do not underestimate the importance of ventilation. Invest in a proper exhaust system which will regulate the temperature inside the kitchen. Go for hood vents which are easy to both install and maintain.

  1. Countertops

While remodeling, keep in mind that countertops should be broad enough to create an overhang above the cabinets so that dribbling sauces fall on the floor instead of the cabinets. Select an elegant and durable countertop material. Marble, granite, limestone create a sophisticated look.
